Losing teeth greatly affects the cosmetic value of a smile and sometimes, obvious and ill-fitting prosthetics like dentures draw more attention to missing teeth than they should. Fortunately, we offer dental implants as a permanent tooth replacement option. Dental implants are fully biocompatible replacement teeth that restore both a tooth’s crown and its lost roots. If patients choose white materials for their prosthetic tooth, a dental implant will closely resemble the appearance of a biological tooth. A root canal, also called endodontic therapy, treats teeth that have become severely damaged, allowing the nerves and soft inner pulp of the tooth to become infected. Your dentist may also recommend a root canal if a tooth has become so damaged or decayed that future infection appears inevitable. Root canals have a reputation for being painful, but modern endodontic techniques and anesthetics make the procedure no more uncomfortable than having a tooth filled. After completing the root canal, the tooth will also need a crown or filling to complete the restoration.

Extractions are typically handled by an oral and maxillo facial surgeon on an outpatient basis. Most extractions are done as a preventative measure to safeguard against changes in the alignment of the teeth during orthodontics or more serious complications.

When patients require dentures, our practice works closely with dental technicians to develop custom-made dentures that are crafted from high-quality materials. Whether full or partial dentures are necessary, the people we serve will enjoy prosthetic teeth that perfectly complement the shape of their mouths and comfortably fit over the gums. Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth whereas partial dentures replace a few consecutive or non-consecutive teeth. Partial dentures employ metal clasps, which attach to neighboring, natural teeth, while full dentures rely on the curved shape of the gums and jawbone to stay in place.

Once our dentist has determined the specifications for dentures, impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory to start the construction process. Technicians use very lifelike materials like porcelain to mimic the appearance of biological teeth and pink-tinted acrylic to resemble the appearance of gums so that our patients enjoy beautiful and durable replacement teeth.

Invisalign is a great alternative to traditional braces. This system utilizes clear, plastic oral appliances instead of fixed metal orthodontia. Especially favored among working professionals, this discreet teeth-straightening method can correct spacing issues such as crowded and gapped teeth as well as bite issues.

How Invisalign Works
Like other orthodontic systems, Invisalign straightens teeth by applying consistent pressure over time to slowly move teeth to straighter, healthier positions. The course of treatment varies from person to person but normally lasts at least six to nine months. Those receiving Invisalign will come to our office so that our dental team can take impressions of the teeth. These impressions will be used to create custom aligners. Each set of custom aligners is worn for two weeks and then swapped out for a tighter set until the end of treatment.
